Do I need to apply for a visa?

Many nationalities in the world would need to apply for a visa to enter Cyprus. But there are nationalities that are allowed to visit Cyprus in the period of time of maximum 90 days. It would include people are nationals of EU Countries, Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Britain, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Korea (Rep), Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Uruguay, USA, Vatican City, Venezuela, and Special Administrative Regions of the Peoples’ Republic of China: Hong Kong and Macao.

Transit in Cyprus

If you book a flight that will include an airport in Cyprus as a transit, you will not need to apply for a visa as long as you hold valid travel documentation and do not have a plan to leave the airport.

Visa Application

You can apply the visa at the embassy of the consulate in your home country or country of residence. For the application, you would need to prepare some documents like:

•  passport with 6 months validity
• one passport-size photo
• completed application form
• proof of financial statement to cover your visit
• ticket reservation
• proof of payment of visa application fee (paying by cash is also possible)

The price of the visa application fee is C£5 for tourist, business, and transit visa. It is free of charge for people with nationals of Egypt, Syrian Arab Republic, and Ukraine, as long as they are in possession of return tickets and have a proof of sufficient financial statement.

The processing time of the visa usually does not take a lot of time. Most of the time, people can get their visa ready on the same day of the application. For some nationalities, there is a possibility for the embassy to take action to refer the visa application to Cyprus. In that case, the visa processing time might take up to two weeks. Your tourist or business visa will be valid for three months, starting from the date of issue. However, the transit visa lasts only for five days.
