Weddings

Many people regard wedding is the most important ceremony in their lives to unite two souls into one union. As the birth place of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, Cyprus makes the perfect romantic location for a wedding. From the wedding ceremony until the honeymoon, you can take advantage of the beautiful scenery and landscape of Cyprus to create a wonderful time.

Planning your wedding in Cyprus would need some planning and preparations. Moreover, there are some legal rules that you need to follow in order to have your wedding. You will be required to prepare some documents, which include:

- Birth certificate of the Bride and Groom
- Valid passports of the Bride and Groom, and copies passports of two witnesses
- Original Decree Absolute, if either has been married before
- Death Certificate, if either is widowed
- Affidavits of the Bride and Groom, which is a certificate that states that you are single, divorced, or widowed. This document is only valid for 6 months, so you need to make sure to get the certificate ready within 6 months prior to your wedding.
- Parental consent, if you are under 18 years old
- Adoption Certificate, if either is adopted
- Deed Pole Certificate, if either has changed name

There are two types of wedding that you can choose; a civil ceremony, which is performed by a Marriage Office, or a church ceremony. If you wish to have a church ceremony for your wedding, which is in fact the one that most people choose, there are several additional documents that need to be included, which are:

- For Anglican Ceremony, a Baptism Certificate from either the Bride or Groom is needed. In addition, you need to bring a confirmation form which states that you have been attending a local church.
- For Catholic Ceremony, Baptism Certificate from both Bride and Groom are required.

All of the documents have to be presented to the Town Hall, so make sure that you arrive in Cyprus at least five days before the wedding day.

There are many companies in Cyprus which offer wedding and honeymoon services in different areas of the country. Most of them usually offer help in dealing with legal services too. In addition, to make sure everything goes as planned, you can always contact the nearest Embassy of Cyprus to drop your questions.

With an organized plan and preparations, you will have the unforgettable and beautiful wedding.
